Change Fatigue. What is it?

Some people love change and thrive through it, while others really struggle.

A recent Forbes article states that a Microsoft study found that 48% of employees reported feeling burned out. 🤯

Change fatigue is a huge cause of this.

Their report offered three key strategies to combat change fatigue:

  1. Identify the critical priorities and trade-offs – change fatigue isn’t helped by lack of clarity so focus on the critical priorities and be clear when communicating this to avoid wasted mental energy focussing on the wrong things.
  2. Helping employees see the whole picture – people need to understand the why behind the change and why it will benefit them or the organisation to truly engage.
  3. Build and tap into a bigger bench – not everyone can cope with too much change so by having more people involved those that are struggling can take a step back and let others take the lead for a while.

As someone who has spent many years working with change, understanding the why was essential to my buy-in – what is it for you?
